My Movies
Although I make my living as a writer, I’ve also done a little directing. Unfortunately, copyright laws prevent me from posting my Diagnosis Murder episode (and it seems to be the one episode that doesn’t show up on Youtube). But here are the two short films I’ve made.
First Kiss was a production of the Stephens College Summer Film Institute, an intensive filmmaking boot camp for female film students. I was brought in by writer/executive producer and then-program head Ken Lazebnik to direct. Our DP, sound guy, script supervisor and first AD were professionals; the rest of the crew were students ranging in age from their late teens to their mid-50s. The two adult actors, Kate Fuglei and Ray Virta were pros; the kids had no prior film experience. The terrific score is by James Raymond, and if you can’t stop humming that lovely song that plays over the end credits and provides the main theme for the movie, it was written by Leela Grace (who also was half of our hair, wardrobe, and make-up department), performed by Leela and her sister Ellie, and can be found on their first album, which is available here.

Mr Rabkin,
Not sure why I haven’t heard of this movie. Just wanted to let you know that I enjoyed it.
